Brilliant move by the Richmond Tea Party

27 Oct

Richmond, Virginia city government has been charging the Richmond Tea Party thousands of dollars since its inception for permits, extra police patrols, portajohns, stage permits in addition to requiring a very expensive insurance policy for the privilege of using the park at Kanawha Plaza for RTP’s Tax Day Tea Parties.  I know first hand as the one time fundraiser for the early RTP.

But, the Occupy Richmond group has been assembled for several days in the very same park without any of the permits or facilities listed above.

To that end, yesterday the Richmond Tea Party issued a press release pointing out this double standard and is going to present Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones with an invoice to be reimbursed for these costs.

Update:  The invoice is for $10,000

Bravo Richmond Tea Party!

All Tea Party groups across the country should follow suit.

Amen! I remember how hard you worked and all the hoops that had to be jumped through just to make the first Tea Party happen. Now, those schmucks camp out in the plaza, and making it impossible for anyone else to enjoy.

Yes, several people worked extremely hard and lost lots of sleep putting the first one together in about 6 weeks.

As for ‘enjoying’ the plaza, that’s a bit of a stretch since it’s usually the home address of the homeless, complete with the odors that accompany them.

Excellent. Isn’t amazing how the left just always expects to get away with stuff? Definitely keep up the pressure on the City. Consider going to court if you have to. There must be a sympathetic lawyer who can help. Try suing the City for discrimination.

This is a job for Patrick McSweeney. Did you happen to notice yourself in that pic, Saddlesore?

Atlanta Tea Party has already notified the city of Atlanta that the same privileges are expected for any future Tea Party gathering, or rallies. I think that reimbursement should be demanded here as well.
