Update: I heard back from the author of the story and he clarified that all of this occurred within a 12 hour period, not 24 as my title suggests. I told you I was confused. This all happened between 8:20pm Saturday and 8:00am Sunday.
From the Chicago Tribune.
At least 30 people have been shot since 6:20 p.m. Friday, 7 of them fatally.
“At least 30”? There could be more, but the chaos and violence is so severe that an accurate accounting is too onerous. 30ish. Good enough. This was the figure posted at the Chicago Trib at 5:54 Central tonight.
We get better body counts out of Syria.
This is Obama’s vision for your future. This is a land where legal gun ownership is non-existent and the cops know better than to go out at night.
Well, not in a deterrent sense. More like a ‘let me put up the yellow tape and do a chalk outline around the latest victim’ sense.
The article goes on to chronicle the “known” deaths and other mayhem that ensued that night in Obama’s Chicago. It seems that many of the victims were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Here’s a little flavor of the many shooting events that occured in Obama’s Chicago since Friday. I couldn’t possibly put the whole blotter in this post.
man walking in the 3200 block of West Walnut Street was shot about 2:10 a.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the city’s West Side, police said. The 29-year-old was shot in the groin and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, a couple blocks north, before being transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital. He told police he heard shots and felt pain.
A 20-year-old man was shot about 1:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of South Winchester Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Police said the man was in stable condition but didn’t have any other details available.
Just before 1 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the back and is in stable condition at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said. He was shot near the intersection of Albany and Lawrence Avenues in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side but additional details weren’t available.
A 33-year-old man suffered a graze wound in the hip about 12:30 a.m. in the 8900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side. He was walking when someone stepped out of a light-colored sedan and started shooting. The shooter fled southbound in the car, police said. The 33-year-old was treated at the scene.
About 11:30 p.m., a 20-year-old man shot in the chest was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center by a friend. He was shot in the 5600 block of South Princeton Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. He was sitting on a porch when someone approached on a bicycle, dismounted, and started shooting. The victim is in critical condition at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Three people were shot in the 3800 block of South Princeton Avenue about two blocks south of U.S. Cellular Field in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood on the South Side. An 18-year-old man was shot eight times in his “lower extremities,” police said, and a 29-year-old woman suffered a through-and-through wound to her buttocks. A 26-year-old man “self transported” to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the stomach but police said he will likely be transferred to Stroger hospital, where the other two were taken.
Read the whole thing. I have to confess that there is so much violence here I cannot track the exact time line. I have written the author of the piece for clarification as to the start/stop times of his reportage.
Why would anyone willingly live there or subject their loved ones to such danger and depravity? And why would anyone willingly vote for a Democrat party that ushers in this sort of insanity? And why would anyone vote for the Chicago-ization of America as a whole?
But, do you know what the real problem is?
Mitt Romney won’t release his tax records.
