Barack Obama hates trees

06 May

The One must despise those large, leafy things from which paper comes.  How else do you explain this until-now unknown provision in the wonder that is Obamacare, the bill the Democrats passed like a kidney stone so that we could finally put it under the microscope?

Section 9006 of the health care bill — just a few lines buried in the 2,409-page document — mandates that beginning in 2012 all companies will have to issue 1099 tax forms not just to contract workers but to any individual or corporation from which they buy more than $600 in goods or services in a tax year.

The stealth change radically alters the nature of 1099s and means businesses will have to issue millions of new tax documents each year….

But under the new rules, if a freelance designer buys a new iMac from the Apple Store, they’ll have to send Apple a 1099. A laundromat that buys soap each week from a local distributor will have to send the supplier a 1099 at the end of the year tallying up their purchases.

Sheesh.  So much for the paperless office.  America in the Age of Obamacare is going to be Tax Form-O-Rama, perforated little forms from sea to oily sea.  Kind of like that weird newspaper scene in Brazil, just papers everywhere swarming and eating us all alive.

But hey – at least if we like our health care plans we’ll get to keep them, right?  Right?

Oh, crap.

Update: But, even after all this paperwork we’ll still have the most innovative health care system in the world, right? Oh, crap.

Why would an employer even pay the fine? Fire all employees and 1099 everyone, right? No benefits, you get to pay all of your healthcare and both portions of your Social Security.

I don’t know why nobody is talking about this.
