Apologies to John Lennon

13 May

To the tune of “Imagine”

Imagine there is no Obama,

It’s easy if you try.

No welfare state below us,

Up the economy climbs.

Imagine all the people,

Living life that’s free.

Imagine there is freedom,

It isn’t hard to do.

Something to live and work for,

and your religion, too

Imagine all the people,

Living for themselves.

You may say I’m a dreamer,

But I’m not the only one.

I hope some day you’ll join us,

The US will be Number One.

Imagine no regulations,

I wonder if you can.

No need for government agencies,

With more invisible hands.

Imagine all the people,

Keeping what they earn.

You may say I’m a dreamer,

But I’m not the only one.

I hope some day you’ll join us,

The US will be Number One.

    Dude. You’re the fifth Beatle.
    Good stuff.

Actually, there is some speculation that John Lennon was eschewing his earlier flirtation with leftists and leftism at the time of his death. Not sure although listening to his swan song album makes me think this is partly true..

But maybe you can start composing something like a new version of Revolution.

‘You say you want an antiObama Solution, well you know, we’d all love to change the world. You tell me that it’s evolution… But when you talk about destruction. Don’t you know that you can count me out….
But when you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow…’
