Oh No! More Trauma for Obama. No Dough for the O.

20 Mar

It seems that the president’s fundraising is not only failing expectations, but is considerably less than in 2008 and far less than George W. Bush stockpiled in 2004 for his re-election.

And unsuprisingly, his money burn rate is at 158% of his fundraising, considering that Obama is the all time King of deficit spending.

The Washington Post just reported that around 11,000 donors had contributed at least $2,000 to the Obama campaign or Democratic National Committee since last spring. That’s less than half as many as at this point in 2008 and less than a quarter of Bush’s 2004 turnout, jeopardizing their once assured goal of a billion dollar campaign this time. Obama’s large donor rate is also less than Mitt Romney is collecting from his big supporters

As a recipient of Obama emails I can attest to the fact that the Re-election campaign is sending several emails a day asking for the minimum of $3, most of them advertising that creepy date night with Barack thing.

Contributions lagging but according to this he raised $45m in February and the recent hip hop fest in Atlanta (with Cee Lo) was rumored to have brought in a pile of dough. $38k a plate.

Thing is, he can’t keep going back to the same well over and over again. He’s a bad investment at this point.

It looks like O has finally run out of other people’s money.
