Isn’t it Ironic

01 Mar

The food stamp program, a part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, part of the Department of Interior, asks us to “please do not feed the animals” because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

This is circulating throughout the email universe and I can’t find who originally wrote it, and I would gladly give attribution if I knew the source, but it’s too good not share.

H/T:  Pedro

Update:  Commenter Shaeffer Historian correctly points out that National Park Service is part of Dept. of Interior.

Does that mean that the Agriculture Department cares more about the animals than people?

      Apparently.

This was too good not to reblog. Something interesting to think about. And I have been working in DC all day so I haven’t been able to post! So enjoy this for now!

    God bless!

    NPS is Interior Dept.

Well leave it to you… I thought about vetting this before posting it, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s still all a function of the Federal Government. So even if it doesn’t all reside within a single Department, it’s still a perfect takedown of statism.

      Oh.

And my first typed response wasn’t as kind to you as the final, edited result.

Thanks for remembering decorum, but I’m a bit perplexed as to the source of the hostility. I only know this because of one time employment at NPS.

I apologize for my hostile response yesterday. I was in a terrible mood and I needlessly took it out on you. I will correct the post to reflect the information you provided. Sorry.

Yes. Decorum is essential. But my first reaction was dispositive of you, a person who would find it necessary to be an apologist for the statist position that this simple and elegant, two sentence take down of statism. You don’t disagree with the message, do you?
