Jim Demint kicks off CPAC 2012

09 Feb

Jim DeMint hammered home the need for us to adhere to the principles of conservatives and echoed the theme of this years conference “We still hold these truths”, and the need for us to undo the damage done by centralized government power and overall federal government largess.
The senator then went on to state that there is nothing President Obama has done that has helped our economy.
On working together in congress he compared it to NY Giant’s coach Tom Coughflin asking his team to work with the Patriots during the Superbowl. The reason that won’t work is that the two teams have different goals, Democrats want to grow the government and conservatives know that as the government grows the private sector shrinks.
DeMint closed by pointing out that the effectiveness of a Republican president in 2013 will be dependent on electing Republicans to the Senate, he said it will be the difference between a good president and a great president. He then endorsed various candidates for senate.

How can it not be a shared goal to improve the conditions of this country? His analogy is a false one because THEY WERE ALL elected to be part of ONE body: the LEGISLATIVE branch of the UNITED STATES government aka Congress. Perhaps when they are up for ELECTION one could apply the analogy but once elected it is incumbent upon these folks to work TOGETHER. Anything less is a dereliction of duties tantamount to treason.

So lets say a house catches on fire and it is so large that two different companies are called. Both companies have the same goal to put out the fire and get people out of harns way but for some reason when the 2nd compny arrives they discover that the 1st company is pouring gas on the fire, would it be criminal for the 2nd company to try and stop thwm?

Jim DeMint is definitely one of the good guys. Too bad he has not had Presidential aspirations.
