There is a difference between whether there is wrongdoing and dishonesty within an administration, and whether misdeeds are reported in the press.
Jonathan Alter, who mystifyingly has a job over at Bloomberg, is either woefully ignorant or purposefully misleading, with his headline story:
Yes, that’s from Bloomberg, not the Onion. Every reader of this blog could probably come up with half a dozen right off the top of their heads, but not Alter.
Although it’s possible that the Solyndra LLC story will become a classic feeding frenzy, don’t bet on it. Providing $535 million in loan guarantees to a solar-panel maker that goes bankrupt was dumb, but so far not criminal or even unethical on the part of the administration.
Absent from that quote is any reference to the fact that the recipients of these, and other similar loan guarantees are all big Obama bundlers. Quid pro quo, anyone? Also absent is the restructuring of the terms of the loans so that government gets paid LAST upon bankruptcy, meaning we won’t get paid at all.
Nothing in here about Operation Fast and Furious, a scandal that would crater most presidencies and is bigger than Watergate because people have been killed, but the story gets little or no attention in the lame stream media.
Nothing about Van Jones, the 9/11 Truther who was forced to resign as Green Energy Czar.
Nothing about Eric Holder refusing to prosecute the New Black Panther Party over well documented voter intimidation and suppression.
Nothing about working behind closed doors with Democrats to force Obamacare upon an unwilling public, which led to the landslide of 2010.
Nothing about unilaterally repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell against the advice of the military who was still studying the issue.
Nothing about his political, rather than strategic decision to exit Iraq at the end of the year.
Nothing about Obama suing Arizona and Alabama over their strict enforcement of our immigration laws.
Nothing about Obama bypassing and ingnoring Congress, whether sending troops to Africa, air support to Libya or his increased use of executive orders in regards to mortgage restructuring or forgiving student loans.
Nothing about his armed raid of Gibson Guitars to seize wood products that other guitar manufacturers use with impunity.
Nothing about how this president uses federal resources like Air Force One and his Magical Misery Tour buses in order to travel to what are clearly campaign appearances.
The list goes on and on and I probably forgot some of the bigger scandals, but one of the commenters points to an entire website called Obama Scandal List, if you’re interested.
But, if the press doesn’t report a scandal, the scandal doesn’t exist. That the media wing of the Democratic Party is performing their job to perfection has at least one person convinced that Obama is Mr. Clean and that person is Jonathan Alter.
