Come help the Fisher House this Saturday from 10-3 at the Walmart SuperCenter/Short Pump as Cooking with the Troops, Bubba Burger, WRVA and many others as they host a free cookout. (Donations gratefully accepted)
The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
Richmond’s Fisher House runs at 95% capacity and we’re looking to build another one at Fort Belvoir. All monies raised will stay in Virginia.
We don’t bleg here for the most part, but this Memorial Day consider those who have sacrificed on your behalf and mark this on your calendar, or just go donate.
And Concrete Bob’s BBQ sauce will be available for sale and after tasting his sauce my wife has threatened to leave me for him just so she gets free sauce. It’s kind of embarassing.
