I just received an update from Andrew Malcolm at The LA Times;
No wonder the president’s El Paso remarks sounded like a campaign speech. They were. By evening a video of the complete 24-minute speech from MSNBC’s broadcast had been distributed to millions of Obama supporters via email. Along with, of course, the opportunity to donate in U.S. funds.
The president insists on using tax dollars to produce political fundraising videos, this is reprehensible and at the same time sadly predictable. The Obama campaign website also featured this laughable quote;
So we’re going to keep up the fight for the Dream Act. We’re going to keep up the fight for reform. And that’s where you come in. I will do my part to lead a constructive and civil debate on these issues.
I seem to remember the Obama brand of civil debate back during the 2010 Nevada Senatorial campaign;
“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, we’re going to punish our enemies and we’re going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s going to be harder — and that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2,” – Barack Obama
