And Obama’s response?
Petulance. Attacks. Derision. Churlishness. Flippance. Desperation.
Behavior unbecoming a President.
Oh. And Detachment.
These are the acts of a spoiled child that has been sheltered from reality, one who has been coddled and nurtured by cowtowing leftists his entire life. This is the end result of the self-esteem movement coupled with the Affirmative Action machine that socially promoted him to a position for which he is unqualified, unsuited, and unfit.
Exhibit A. Check out this post from Mychal Massie at World Net Daily entitled, ‘When Will Obama Crack in Public?’
At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, “Get used to it” – and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to “get a more fuel-efficient car.
The Obamas behave as if they were sharecroppers living in a trailer and hit the Powerball, but instead of getting new tires for their trailer and a new pickup truck, they moved to Washington. And instead of making possum pie, with goats and chickens in the front yard, they’re spending and living large at taxpayer expense – opulent vacations, gala balls, resplendent dinners and exclusive command performances at the White House, grand date nights, golf, basketball, more golf, exclusive resorts and still more golf.
Massie is basically stating that the Emperor has never been challenged by anybody and was always sheltered by sycophants and is not used to anything that resembles legitimate criticism. He’s getting ready to blow like Mt. St. Helens.
I know it’s blogger cliche’, but seriously, Read the whole thing. It isn’t that long but it’s a classic.
Exhibit B: The Washington Post, well the blog at the Washington Post, openly questions if Obama is in over his head. And members of his party are secretly trying to figure out how to get him out of office before he totally craters their party for the next half century.
Obama has relied throughout his career on a mix of glossy rhetoric and clever pop psychology. But ask those who observed him during his brief Senate career if he showed a depth of understanding or interest on major legislation. You’ll find he wasn’t much concerned with the details of legislation or the substance of policy debates.
He’s a street hustler. A con man. What did you expect? Go to New Orleans sometime and walk the French Quarter. This kind of street hustler is on every corner. Tricksters trying to separate you from your money.
On the one hand I’d like to think that he’s merely superficial. That he lacks substance. That he’s an empty suit. A two bit street thug.
But on the other hand, even if he is merely a figurehead for a puppet master, (which I firmly believe he is) what’s happening behind the curtain while Howdy Doody prances before the nation is criminal.
Even if he’s just a useful idiot, he’s still an idiot.
Hat Tip to Todd.
UPDATE: Michael Gerson at the Washington Post wrote a piece criticizing “The One” for his non-serious, ineffective deficit reduction proposals.
Obama, in contrast, has largely failed the deficit test, combining unrealistic proposals with politically charged attacks on alternatives. The administration’s approach is also radical — but few fear it because it is so unlikely to be applied.
And the president’s talk of tax increases on “millionaires and billionaires” is a transparent distraction. There simply aren’t enough of the spectacularly wealthy to meet Obama’s considerable revenue needs.
He concludes the opinion piece with an opinion that is shared by increasingly more on the left.
Public opinion is both divided and pliant. This places a premium on responsible leadership — which the president has not shown.
