The Moderates of the Rally to Restore (In)Sanity

31 Oct

ReasonTV Captures the Spirit of the Rally to Restore (In)Sanity . I have a feeling many of them would have been dressed the same, even if it was not the day before Halloween. I was in D.C. for another event and got stuck in D.C. traffic at the same time this Rally ended. I knew from the freak show on the streets that for some, this was just another opportunity for them to sport their Halloween costumes and this video confirmed it. I am impressed by their eloquence and their ability to articulate their points of view.

I watched the event on C-SPAN. It was two  hours of painfully unfunny schtick, but in addition to the signs below, caught a few on the streets of DC including “Real Americans Eat Bald Eagle Eggs” and “I’m Not A Climate Scientist So I Don’t Refute What They Say”. Guess he missed the story about Hal Lewis’ resignation from The American Physical Society. While watching the event on C-SPAN, caught “Pimp My God” among others. Don’t know if I have the stomach to watch it again to capture the others.

What a nice way to spend a lovely fall afternoon with your daughter.  Her Dad’s sign should say “Moderate Women are Tepid”. That would be more accurate.

Waiting for Nancy’s outcry about the Nazi references…..

Hmmm – reckon this fellow knows what NAMBLA is? Someone said that it’s some kind of Daily Show running joke. Seems like they would have picked something that didn’t reference pedophelia.

Any guesses on what in the world the sign on the left means? Dry Hump your Party? Someone clearly needs some real lovin’.

I would submit to these three buffoons that “Tea Baggers” are paying more taxes than they are. As a matter of fact, I would bet on it.

Are they brothers?

This is a flag made of destroyed American Flags – which pretty much says it all about this crowd of malcontents.

 What does this mean?

Oh, Nancy, we’re still waiting……

Oh great, now every trip to Kroger will be like going to Costco

The smaller print says, “Just kill me in that case”. OK   But in a nice way, of course

And they discerned this how?

SEIU, Tides Foundation, George Soros…… Don’t confuse them with the facts though

I detect a theme here…. The following two should get together.

Watched some of this event on C-Span. It seems people enjoyed themselves. Don’t know who foot the bill for this lavish multi media event. It seems they attempted to poke fun at anything and everything that is the liberal commandments. Toilet paper is evil (it kills trees. How about the annual California wildfires with no tree cutting?), moral superiority allows us to look down our nose at the common folk. (attending proves that I am above average, and intelligent.). Didn’t hold my attention or entertain much.

Moral superiority is the perfect descriptor. I forced myself to watch the entire event even though I wanted to change the channel before 15 minutes had passed. It was excruciating and proved that Stewart’s “talent” only manifests in a one-to-one interview setting.

Um nice description of the flag being parts of destroyed flags…..really? LOL And you know this how?

And maybe if conservatives didn’t blog about making NAMBLA signs and going to the rally yesterday, then people might actually believe that those were legitimate signs

Because I (and a bus full of people) saw that flag as we were trying to leave DC after the rally dispersed.

As to your second point – the thread you pointed to is clearly for somoene attending the event – hardly a conservative. The postings regarding NAMBLA signs also not posted by conservatives – so what’s your point? How long did it take you to dig that one up?

People musn’t forget that it IS Halloween after all.

I love how all the righties are getting their britches in a twist over some of the signs…. its humor after all. But as always its only funny when you’re doing it right?

I don’t think “lefties” are any position to talk about conservatives getting their britches in a twist about signs.

“This was not a rally to ridicule people of faith, or people of activism, or look down our noses at the heartland, or passionate argument…” Too bad Jon didn’t say that BEFORE the rally because clearly you and the attendees didn’t get that message.

Wish we could take the credit, but it goes to many including http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2010/10/15-most-bizarre-photos-from-jon.html.

Myath. I love the little game you lefties play. You deride, denigrate and attack, but when you get blowback you fall back to ‘Hey, it’s only comedy. Lighten up.’

That is the sign of cowardice. John Leibowitz and others use this all the time. Or, John Stewart to you.

Interesting series of photos. I am guessing there was more than a modicum of hate speech directed against conservatives. Can anyone confirm that? But then, the people there looked so smart, articulate and tolerant! I am relieved to see that there are so many open minded liberals ready to engage in a civil discussion of the issues.
