Restoring Honor 8/28

27 Aug

Usually these go to the bottom of the post, but I’m trying to arrange for a cab ride from the hotel in Arlington and the front desk just informs me that the cab companies are NOT accepting pickups (5:50 AM was what I was hoping for because their waaaaay overbooked.  AND.  All the roads are blocked.  I asked for a special service to drop me on the Virginia side of the Memorial Bridge and I’m awaiting a call back on this.  DC Metro, the love of my youth as you know, doesn’t start rolling until 7am)  No matter what.  I was in a cab today and the driver was bitching about the fact that SOMEBODY somehow affiliated with the event is telling people to stay away from certain DC neighborhoods, as reported on the local all news station WTOP.  That would include Anacostia, lots of NW DC.  It was all I could do to ask the cabbie if he goes into these neighborhoods to pick up fares.  Didn’t go there, but the meme BECK AND HIS MINIONS ARE RAAAACISTS is flooding the MSM.

There’s more.  The front desk just called to tell me that the Special High Priced service will NOT even drop me on the VA side of the Memorial Bridge, which is not blocked off to my knowledge.  This is bad.  I’m beginning to think that there’s more to this than pesky traffic issues.

Could the hand of Obama, Soros, Pelosi, Reid and others be intervening to squash the Beck event?  That sounds kinda kooky konspiracy theory, (kkk unintentional).

This is going to be quite an event.  There are over 1000 buses coming, plus there is already a sizeable crowd milling about and some have already saved their places on the national Mall.

Five Jumbotrons, 560 porta potties.  And LOTS of enthusiasm for the quaint notions of Honor, Integrity and Honesty, traits that are in short supply in this town.

I don’t know what to expect tomorrow other than a massive crowd.  I know Beck is here, Palin is here, MLK Jr.’s niece, and Marcus Lutrell.  That’s about all I know.

It will be broadcast on CSPAN and the event is from 10-1 Eastern Daylight time, so you can tune in if you couldn’t make it.

The Jumbotrons will be nice, last year at 9-12 it was impossible to see and difficult to hear, It doesn’t sound like that will be an issue tomorrow.
